The event will be held on July 26, 2008 at Ambassador College located in Pasadena, California. Athletes attending the QB Challenge will compete against other quarterbacks in their grade and scored based on their performance in four different competitions. Categories athletes will be broken down into are Youth, Freshman, Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors. Grade levels should be based off where each Quarterback will enter in the fall of 2008.
The cost to attend the event is $150 per athlete. Quarterbacks are issued an official QB Challenge T-shirt, but are expected to bring any additional equipment required to compete (shorts, cleats, football, etc.)
Please note that this event is purely a competition, not a QB skills camp. The athlete is competing to showcase his abilities against other quarterbacks in his grade level. Top performers in each division will receive prizes and will be recognized in media releases published over the DeBartolo Sports University website following the event. The Quarterback Challenge provides a platform for under-the-radar recruits to gain recognition and notoriety as one of the more well rounded passers in their respective recruiting class.
The various competitions which athletes will be graded are as follows:
Distance Toss – Put your arm strength to the test and showcase your ability to launch that potential game winning Hail Mary pass.
Speed and Agility – Test your quickness and change of direction while remaining a passer through some of Steve Clarkson's signature speed and agility drills.
Gauntlet – Test your complete skill set as a quarterback. The gauntlet provides each signal caller the chance to complete the multitude of different pass patterns, various drop backs, and timing routes. The goal is put a quarterback’s efficiency to the ultimate test.
Read and React – Test your ability at throwing to multiple moving targets and make game-like adjustments while sitting back in the pocket.
