Vaz joins Beaver Nation

Upon concluding a summer road trip featuring stops at Nebraska, Nevada, Oregon State, Washington, and Washington State, Cody Vaz (Stockton, Calif./St. Mary’s) saw enough to know where he wanted to play college football.

Arriving home Friday evening, the 6’1 200 lb quarterback received an e-mail from Oregon State Offensive Coordinator & Quarterbacks Coach, Danny Langsdorf, instructing Vaz to call the football office Monday morning.

Already feeling an offer from the Beavers was imminent, Vaz refused to jump to any conclusions and patiently waited out the weekend.

“When Monday rolled around I called (Coach Langsdorf) first thing in the morning and he told me over the phone they were going to offer. When he finished speaking I accepted right away.”

Although Vaz is confident the other programs he toured would ultimately present him with scholarship offers, he wasn’t interested in playing the waiting game. After his time in Corvallis, Vaz was enamored by the Beaver nation.

“What attracted me most to Oregon State was the coaching staff,” admits Vaz. “They’re a great bunch of guys. Having won their last four bowl games, the program has developed a recent history of winning. I really like the town of Corvallis. Despite its size, it’s a nice college town that shows a lot of fan support to the Beavers.”

Vaz enters his senior season hoping to surpass his 2007 production. The Nor-Cal field general completed 215 of 332 passes for 3,265 yards, and 33 touchdowns. He was named TCAL Offensive MVP, First Team All-Area, Second Team All-Northern California, and All-State underclassman.
