| "As a young quarterback with aspirations to improve and become great someday, I believe working with Steve Clarkson helps me achieve my goals." |
|
DSU: You’ve made a strong statement about your commitment to football. Why did you make the decision to enroll in Steve Clarkson’s private training program?
CR: Coach Clarkson has had great success helping good quarterbacks get better. As a young quarterback with aspirations to improve and become great someday, I believe working with him would help me achieve my goals.
DSU: What NFL QB do you feel you are most similar to?
CR: Eli Manning because I'm primarily a pocket passer with above average athletic ability. I have a solid arm with good efficiency and lead with my play rather than my mouth.
DSU: What is the highlight of your football career? Describe in as much detail (magnitude of game, thoughts, feelings, statistics, emotions…etc.)
CR: Though it’s still early on in my high school career, the game that sticks out to me right now is my second varsity football game against Huntington Park. This was a game where I was forced to overcome much adversity, but still managed to throw for 359 yards and three touchdowns. Even though we lost, I proved to myself early on that I could compete on a high stage, lead my team on the field, and make a difference in the game.
DSU: What would you consider your biggest strengths as a quarterback?
CR: I would say my biggest strength would be my arm strength. I have a powerful arm, but make smart decisions, and am a great leader on and off the field.
DSU: What aspects of your game would you like to improve on through training with Steve?
CR: One of the biggest things I would like to improve on is my footwork. Steve always works with me on my drops and having my feet in sync with my throwing motion. Outside of footwork, I’m always trying to improve my throwing mechanics as well.
DSU: List you’re your team goals as well as any individual goals for the 2008 season?
CR: As a team we are focused on winning the league title and advancing to the CIF playoffs for a third consecutive year. Individually I’m aiming to throw for 30 touchdowns and eclipse 3000 passing yards.
DSU:Outside of football and training, what are some things you like to kill time with?
CR: I always enjoy hanging out with my friends and family. and watching televised sporting events.
DSU: Outside of playing in the NFL, what is your dream job/occupation?
CR: I would like to get into the sports marketing industry, possibly even becoming a sports agent.
DSU: List your favorite NFL/college team…
CR: My favorite pro team is the Indianapolis Colts. In college I pull for Oregon State because I’ve had family that has attended there.
DSU: When being recruited to play college athletics, what is the most valuable recruiting tool? (Performing well at testing combines, going to college camps, getting recognition on scout/rivals, etc.)
CR: When recruiting quarterbacks, I feel college coaches really at what type of competitor you are. They want to see how you perform under pressure, and how you take command of the huddle. Academics are important as well, especially at the Division I level. Potential recruits are expected to meet high grade point average expectations.
DSU: How much do you think internet recruiting services influence the thoughts of college coaches on their assessment of potential recruits?
CR: The internet is an informational research too. Credible information influences college recruiters. Therefore, I feel that internet based information can be very important to the college recruiting process.
